About

The trio composed of Alessandro Milani on violin, Luca Ranieri on viola and Pierpaolo Toso on cello, first parts of the RAI National Symphony Orchestra, was formed in 2004; refounded in 2018, it inherited its name from the glorious historic formation made up of Franco Gulli, Bruno Giuranna and Giacinto Caramia: the "New" Italian String Trio.

Dedicated to the exploration of a vast repertoire, which ranges from classicism to compositions of the second half of the twentieth century (Scelsi, Schnittke, Penderecki) and contemporary authors, the trio has been invited by numerous institutions and festivals, including the Unione Musicale di Turin, the Friends of Music of Verona, the Musical Evenings of Milan, the Violin Museum of Cremona, the “Verdi” Theater of Sassari, the Belluno Cultural Club, the Pinerolo Academy, Amiata Piano Festival, The Sounds of the Dolomites, Armonie in Valcerrina, and in 2019 he debuted in China with two concerts in Beijing.

He has to his credit some world premiere performances of contemporary compositions and collaborations with internationally renowned artists. Many of its concerts have been broadcast live on Rai Radio 3. In 2017 the trio inaugurated the "I Concerti del Quirinale" series in the presence of the President of the Republic Sergio Mattarella, live on television on Rai 5.

The trio's first CD was released in 2019, dedicated to Beethoven for Brilliant Classics; recently released, again by Brilliant, a second CD with music by Schubert and Mozart's Divertimento for strings.
