Luca Ranieri

Luca Ranieri graduated in viola at the “G.Verdi Conservatorium” in Milan with distinction under Emilio Poggioni, he then perfected his studies with Bruno Giuranna at Accademia W.Stauffer in Cremona.
First viola in RAI National Symphonic Orchestra, he played with all top conductors such as R.Muti, M.W.Chung, D.Barenboim, D.Gatti, R.Chailly, D.Harding, C.Abbado, V.Gergiev, playing in all the most prestigious theatres in the world.
From 1993 to 1999, since he won the international viola selection, he has been a member of the Teatro Alla Scala Orchestra conducted by Riccardo Muti.
In 1999 Luca Ranieri won the selection for first viola at RAI National Symphonic Orchestra.
As a soloist he played with RAI National Symphonic Orchestra, Chamber Orchestra of Padua and Veneto, the Pomeriggi Musicali of Milan, Brescia and Bergamo Festival Orchestra, the Moscow Soloists, the Hessisches Orchestra in Wiesbaden, working with Riccardo Muti, Daniele Gatti, John Axelrod, Christian Arming, Pietari Inkinen.
He has been repeatedly invited by Ricardo Muti, Daniel Baremboim and Riccardo Chailly as guest first viola with both Teatro Alla Scala Orchestra and Philharmonic Orchestra.
He has numerous performances of Mozart’s Sinfonia Concertante with soloists such as G.Carmignola, D.Schwarzberg.
With RAI Orchestra, he played the Bartok’s viola Concerto (a live CD for Stradivarius of his performance, is considered by critics one of the best recordings of this Concerto), the Hindemith “Der Schwanendreher” conducted by J.Axelrod and Berlioz’s “Harold en Italie!” conducted by A.Lazarev.
With Yuri Bashmet and Moscow Soloists he played the first performance of De Fidium Natura, by L. Curtoni for two solo violas and orchestra dedicated to Yuri Bashmet and Luca Ranieri.
In 2013 he has been invited to Sochi (Russia) for a concert with Yuri Bashmet and the Moscow Soloists for the presentation of 2014 winter Olympic Games.

In chamber music Luca Ranieri collaborates with prestigious musicians such as Victor Tretyakov, often playing in duo, Y.Bashmet, L.Hagen, M.Brunello, G.Sollima, E.Dindo, A.Meneses.

He is Artistic Director of Garda Lake Music Academy Master which is held at Lake Garda, Italy, and is considered one of the most important masterclass and festival in Italy.
